Also known as the Keren Hotel, Albergio Italia was constructed in 1899 and is considered as one of the oldest hotels in Asmara and even in the entire Eritrea. The hotel has been totally reconstructed and renovated in 2004 through the efforts of Johannes Primo, in partnership with Architect Lachino, who wanted to preserve the unique history of this century old hotel.
Albergo Italia boasts fully furnished rooms with antiques that were used way back them. This wonderful and quaint boutique-like hotel is a perfect representation of an Old Italian villa with cushy guest rooms, beautiful furniture and communal areas filled with heritage aesthetics.
The hotel offers one imperial suite and three other suites that are distinguished by the dominant color of their name (green, yellow and red). All guest rooms are fully equipped with a mini bar, telephone and a satellite Internet connection.
In addition to that, Albergo Italia also offers two nicely decorated Italian/Eritrean restaurants and a bar. They offer luscious and savory Italian dishes that will truly satisfy the most discerning palates. Thanks to the culinary wonders of Italian Chef Celestina, guests can now enjoy a full breakfast filled with fresh pasta, brioschine and other Italian classic favorites.
