Eritrean President Calls on Local Officials to Develop more Programs in Massawa City

Massawa—President Isaias recently attended the 22nd Commemoration of the Operation Fenkil at Massawa last February 11, 2012. In his speech on that event, the Eritrean president indicated the need for more action and efforts towards the efficient implantation of development programs in the city. The president also said that Massawa’s environs should serve as the epicenter of development in the country.

According to Mr. President himself, all locals and residents of Eritrea should work together and mount their united efforts within the framework of integrated rebuff. Honoring the martyrs, the national liberation front and the glory of the Operation Fenkil should be all remembered as stepping stones for today’s development. He also said that the people also need to learn from the lessons of history, especially when it comes to economic development and improving ties among nations.

Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis also spoke during the event sharing to the public that this year’s commemoration is being observed at a period when sanctions against the country have been adopted and said that the Eritrean people should put up a rebuff from conspiracies.

The event also included various exhibitions that highlighted the events in Operation Fenkil.
